Silver Knife Value
Important: Most "silver" knives have solid sterling handles with stainless steel blades. Only the handle is silver.
Typical Handle Weights
- Butter knife (all silver): 25-40 grams
- Dinner knife (handle only): 30-50 grams silver
- Hollow handle discount: Deduct 50-60% of total weight for hollow handles
Weigh the entire knife, then estimate the silver handle weight. Hollow handles contain cement/pitch filler, so actual silver content is less than the handle weight.
